The reality.

They say art is much deeper than what meets the eye,
But whats a detailed painting to a woman who is blind?
Or a plain white board to the man who has no time?
Or a poster of an orchard to the student that is high?
They say art is more than what meets the eye.

They say words vary in meaning as they meet different ears,
But what's the meaning of 'vary' to a child of 2 years?
Or the point of a quote to the man that is deaf?
Or a change in commands to the worker whose only command is left?
They say words have interpreted in different ways to different ears.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
But what of what concern is such to  the scarred teen drowned in make-up?
Or the cruel adolescent with the sense of compassion?
Becuase no one really gives thought to beauty beyond passion?
They say beauty is more than just skin deep.

They say so many things, and expect life to be fine.
They forget 'its easier said than done' almost every time.
And society's expectations get higher along the road.
And sayings loose their values as generations grow old.
